International Business Women s Group in Dubai Directory

The International Business Womens Group (IBWG) in Dubai was formed in 1983 by a small group of expatriate business women who wanted to establish a regular forum for exchanging ideas, passing on vital information which was otherwise not available, and supporting other business women in what was then a difficult cultural and business environment. Over the past 20 years the group has grown from strength to strength and, with the Dubai and UAE Governments recognition of women in business, has been able to achieve a much higher profile and greater sphere of influence in the commercial area in which its members function. As well as raising the awareness of the Group we continually strive for a more focused and professional approach to the concept of networking for Women both in their own business sectors and the business community in general. The IBWG in Dubai meet on the second Monday in each month to achieve our common objective of professional networking. The underlying message at each meeting is one of professionalism, personal growth and development. This meeting takes the form of a luncheon held at a suitable venue (currently the prestigious World Trade Club) and we endeavor to source speakers whose chosen topic provides members and their guests with insight, firsthand experience, motivation, knowledge and a touch of humor. We actively aim to maintain a balance in the topics, which reflects the multi-faceted lives of our members.In 2004 we introduced monthly networking Breakfast meetings for our members. The Breakfasts are held on the last Monday in each month and provide opportunities for round-table discussions and an exchange of ideas on current issues of relevance to members. As the United Arab Emirates, and in particular Dubai, continues its advance into the era of e-commerce, e-government and e-business, and grows at a rapid pace to achieve the dreams of its Rulers, the IBWG in Dubai intends to be in the forefront of Womens support groups providing a strong platform for its Members to grow and develop both professionally and personally. Ours is a virtual office environment in which we are able to reach out to all our Members and through them the business community as a whole. In this way we keep abreast of new and innovative means to achieve business and personal objectives.
