Cape operates in the Lower Gulf as Cape East LLC in the UAE, Cape East WLL in Qatar, Cape East and Partners LLC in Oman and Cape Industrial Services Pvt Ltd in India. Cape in the UAE commenced trading in 1979, in Qatar in 1982, in Oman in 1997 and in India in 2000. The regional head quarters of the Cape Gulf Group is in Abu Dhabi. The Cape Gulf companies are active in the provision of insulation, painting, scaffolding, fireproofing, refractory and specialist coating applications for concrete and flooring. In addition the UAE office is an accredited CITB / City and Guilds Training Center for Rigging, Scaffolding and Refractory. The Company is also active in both the manufacture and fabrication of a range of insulation products and accessories as well as precast, preferred refractory special shapes and heavy density cryogenic pipe supports. In the UAE the activities of Cape commenced in 1980 with the award from Bechtel of insulation and associated scaffolding projects for the Bu Hasa and Ruwais NGL Plants.During the course of the above projects, it was decided that a Branch Office be established in Abu Dhabi. This was followed by the establishment of a Branch Office in Qatar in 1982. Both in Qatar and the UAE, Cape quite quickly established themselves as the market leader and both operations soon proved to be very successful. During the period 1985 to 1990 due to the depressed state of the Oil Industry, the company went through a very difficult period with results of sales averaging 700,000 per annum with an average contribution of 20,000 per annum. The conclusion of the Gulf War in 1991 was the turning point and apart from the financial years 1990 to 1993 where the Company had to effect some major financial write offs, the Company has gone from strength to strength. Cape East provides a comprehensive range of industrial services including thermal and acoustic insulation, corrosion and fire protection, and refractory services. These dedicated services are designed to meet the demanding requirements of a number of industry sectors, including gas liquefaction and transmission, petrochemical and oil refining, power generation, and general process engineering applications. Through long experience working within these sectors, Cape East has developed a range of skills designed to meet the technical and performance requirements of its clients. Employing nearly 2000 personnel in the Gulf. Cape seeks to provide a multi-discipline capability on a quick response basis through locally managed operational units. In order to meet the demands of its clients, Cape has evolved a wide range of sophisticated, flexible and versatile working practices. It has developed a mobile, multi-skilled workforce and trained and developed both local and third country nationals. It has developed computer driven logistics management and planning tools. Cape has invested in local manufacture and fabrication to improve quality and response times in materials management. It has developed techniques, including offsite pre-insulation, to ease workforce congestion and reduce construction time.
