Since 1st January 2007, a new Market Company, Tetra Pak Arabia, was formed comprising the territories previously covered by Tetra Pak Saudi Arabia and Tetra Pak Gulf (Saudi Arabia, Yemen, UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and Oman). Most of the countries in the new market company formed the GCC trading block (Gulf Cooperation Council) and larger customers operating throughout this area. By merging these two market companies, Tetra Pak wanted to improve knowledge of the markets and be able to better support its customers’ businesses. The carton converting factory in Tetra Pak Arabia is located in south Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Tetra Pak supplies most of the carton packaging material for Saudi Arabia and exports to customers in 24 other countries in the Middle East, Europe and Asia. The global presence of Tetra Pak is reflected in the multinational mix of over 350 staff of 31 nationalities employed in the region. Tetra Pak Arabia’s carton converting factory operates to the same standards as any Tetra Pak factory in the world. It is certified with environmental standards, ISO 14001 and develops additional environmental activities such as local waste recycling and energy management in order to decrease its impact on local environment and promote sound manufacturing practices. It even has its own desalination plant and returns clean excess water to the local aquifer. In cooperation with local customers and as part of their responsibility as a good corporate citizen, Tetra Pak supports various initiatives that aim at children’s nutrition and environmental education. The main activities include participation in School Milk Education programme with Kingdom’s Ministry of Education and the promotion of recycling in cooperation with key local customers in Dubai and Union Paper Mill, Dubai.
