BITS, Pilani - Dubai (BPD) was established in Dubai in September 2000 in response to the growing needs for Quality Engineering Education among the residents of Middle East. It is the only international branch campus of BITS, Pilani and was set-up in association with ETA-Net, a member of the ETA Ascon Group. Over a period of 7 years, BPDs student strength has grown to about 1200 with students seeking admission from not only UAE and other Middle East Countries but also from India and other parts of the world. BPD offers Engineering Programmes at the undergraduate level in 5 different specializations. All the programmes are of 4 years duration and an Internship of 7½ months in reputed industries is included within these 4 years. There are nearly 127 companies offering Internship to the students currently with many more companies coming forward each day. Students are also paid stipend during this internship. The Institution has recruited highly experienced, full time teaching faculty with Doctorates in respective disciplines who hail from reputed institutions. Some of the faculty is also on deputation from BITS, Pilani - India. From its inception, BPD has maintained very high standards in its Academic programmes through quality inputs, training and internship. The process and progress of programmes at Dubai are very closely monitored by BITS, Pilani-India. Three batches have graduated from BPD till date. All the Graduating Students took advantage of the Campus Placement Programme organized by BPD. Several reputed companies in UAE - IT firms, Multinational Conglomerates, Oil Companies, Construction companies, Logistics and Trading organizations participated in the Campus recruitment programme. The total number of jobs offered by the firms exceeded the total number of job aspirants every year. The selected students got placed with good salary packages in their chosen line. Many graduating students also got admission into Masters programmes in reputed US universities with scholarships. BPD has established Academic Collaborations with reputed American Universities for the benefit of its students. The scope of collaboration includes twinning programme arrangements for undergraduate studies, preferential admission into graduate programmes for BITS students, joint research activities etc. BPD is also the l argest student branch of the Ieee, the prestigious Association of distinguished Engineers from around the world. Currently it has 200 student members who actively participate in several international conferences and events. The students of BPD have won several accolades not only academically but also on the extracurricular front. This has been possible because of BPDs continuous effort in creating professionals with an all round personality. The exemplary performance and dynamism displayed by the students who have graduated from BPD are testimony to this. BITS, Pilani - Dubai will move in Sept 2007 to its permanent campus in Dubai Academic City which is being built over 15 acres of land. The new campus will have state-of-the-art, world class infrastructure with excellent amenities.
