The Regulation and Supervision Bureau, Abu Dhabi, UAE in Dubai Directory

The Regulation and Supervision Bureau’s duties concern the water, wastewater and electricity sector of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi only. In essence the Bureau enforces the relevant laws through the licence of activities to various persons who operate in the sector. Once a licence is issued, the Bureau will monitor, modify where needed, and enforce licences to participant companies and has extensive powers to obtain information and take enforcement action. It also has the powers to establish and monitor technical, performance, safety and customer standards. Licensed operators that wish to sell off any or all of their assets, or purchase the assets of another generator, transmitter or distributor, must first obtain approval from the Bureau. The Bureau has the sole and exclusive authority to regulate the water and electricity sector in Abu Dhabi and has full powers to regulate all licensed operators economically and technically in accordance with the existing Law. The licensed operators include: generation and desalination companies, transmission company, distribution Companies and a waste water operator.
